Dental assistants, dental therapists, and local dentists are assigned by the National Dental Director of Grenada to work with us. Prior to seeing children, we provide mission specific guidelines and training for each project.
All of these team members are invited to become involved with our project. As they see the success of this work (decrease in decay and decrease in extractions) hopefully they will want to incorporate these types of preventative procedures in their own practice and become regular volunteers at the surrounding schools.
Each project starts with an overview of techniques where we learn from each other. These volunteers have an opportunity to serve in the schools they have previously attended, which provides a great sense of giving back to their communities.
Dr. Warren is a dentist with an office in St. George’s, the capital of Grenada. She volunteered her time and spent five days working with us in 2020. She was excited to learn of our project and her help was greatly appreciated. We were able to visit her office and provide insight on how she could improve the efficiency of her office space, and gave suggestions as to how she could be more successful. We look forward to working with Dr. Warren on future humanitarian trips. Professional friendships are truly to be treasured.
